The information we collect

This applies to all information collected or submitted on the unearthed® website. On some pages visitors can make requests, enter competitions and register to receive a newsletter.  The types of personal information collected via these pages are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number

The way we use information

Competition entry
Information you provide to enter competitions will only be used for the purposes of prize delivery. If you agree (opt-in) to hear from our brand partners, we will forward your details to them in a secure manner.

Customer complaints/queries
We use return email addresses to answer the emails we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

Newsletter sign up
You can register with our website if you would like to receive our newsletter as well as updates on our new products and competitions. Information you submit on our website will not be used for any other purpose than to send you carefully selected marketing messages. We do not sell or use this data in any other way.

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and to share with brand partners. For example, we may tell a brand partner that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Summary of terms
Browser
Used to locate and display Web pages via a software application. The most popular ones are Google Chrome, Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Cookie
Message given to a web browser by a web server. The message is then stored by the browser in a text file called cookie.txt. Each time the browser requests a page from the server, this message is sent back. If we require any personal information from you we will request that you send us a direct message or direct you to a secure form on www.foodsunearthed.com. unearthed® (“We”) are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy (together with our terms of use Terms and conditions and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, whether via our website or otherwise, will be processed by us. This applies to consumers, our customers, our suppliers, delegates on our courses, candidates who apply for a job with us and persons who make enquiries to us, sign up for our newsletters or take part in our market research. ii) Sharing with our group companies
The personal information you provide on the website is collected by unearthed®. However where you ask or indicate that we may do so (e.g. in an online form) or where we are otherwise legally permitted to do so in accordance with this privacy policy, we may transfer your personal information between and to our group companies. Group companies are our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006. iii) Sharing with our service providers
We may share your personal information with our third party service providers based in the UK or the European Economic Area (“EEA”) who we engage to process the information that we collect from you on the website or otherwise, and/or to host and maintain our website, content or services, on our behalf and in accordance with this privacy policy.

We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we will provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, women in SW1). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers’ wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience;
  • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our website;
  • our website offers the possibility to share content on social media channels, e.g., Facebook. 7. How long do we store personal information?

It is our policy to retain your personal information for the length of time required for the specific purpose or purposes for which it was collected, which are set out in this privacy policy. We retain information relating to food safety aspects of transactions with you for 5 years following the supply of food products to a customer or following a purchase of food products by us from a supplier. However, on occasion we may be obliged to store some data for a longer time, for example, where a longer time period is required by applicable laws. In this case, we will ensure that your personal data will continue to be treated in accordance with this privacy policy.

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers.
